Celebrate the Small Things - Spring Has Sprung!

I think it's finally safe to say spring is here in North Texas!  A few weeks ago, Mister and I had our side yard landscaped.  It went from a sad looking patch of weeds to a beautiful garden, and the knock-out roses are going nuts!  It's so fun to wake up and see new blooms every day.  This weekend, we plan to work on the front yard, and to plant some additional flowers in our planters.  Hopefully everything will look great when we're done!

Are the flowers blooming in your part of the world?  I hope so!

If you've been reading my blog, you know that Fridays are reserved for a post where I celebrate the little things that have happened during the week. This is a blog hop created by Vikki and now hosted by Lexa Cain, and it's one of my favorite blogging things to do.  I encourage you to check out her blog and the full list of participants, because who doesn't love reading about good things?

Celebrate the Small Things - Symphony edition

Just a short post this week, as I'm feeling a bit swamped.

This was the first week back from spring break, and it's always kind of tough to return to work after a vacation.  Needless to say, I'm pretty tired. :)

As for celebrations, Mister and I are going to the symphony this weekend.  They're playing Beethoven's 5th symphony--he's my favorite composer, and I'm really looking forward to hearing it live.

How was your week?  Any big plans for the weekend?

Spring Cleaning Giveaway Hop!

My thanks to I Am A Reader, Not A Writer for hosting this giveaway!

I've been fortunate to attend several writer and reader conferences over the years, and I always walk away with boxes of free books.  At the time, I have every hope that I will read said books, but then life interferes. <sigh>

This year, I've decided to share some of the wealth.  The prize for this giveaway is an assortment of 5 romance novels.  They can range from contemporary, historical, paranormal, and even YA (no erotica).

Since I have so many books, I'll pick 3 winners to receive 5 books each. Sound good?  Use the Rafflecopter form below to enter (US only please)!  Good luck! :)

Family traditions?

Thanks, Google! :)

Today is my birthday (yay!).  And for the second year in a row, Mister is sick (boo!).

Last year, we wound up in the ER because he was having an asthma flare-up and couldn't breathe.  Today, he's in bed with some kind of stomach bug he seems to have picked up from work.

A lesser woman might wonder why her husband's body reacts so violently to her birthday.  But not me.  Nope.  I'm just going to sit over here with my hand sanitizer and eat some cake.

I hope this doesn't turn into a tradition.

Celebrate the Small Things - Taxes edition

We made it through another week!  Mother Nature has still not quite made up her mind as to whether it's going to be winter or spring--we started the week out with rain, but on Wednesday night we got a record amount of snow and ice.  Thursday was a snow day from work, and the jury's still out on Friday's schedule.

Despite our weather issues, the end of this week marks the beginning of my spring break!  I hope to spend most of the time writing and getting ahead on my deadlines, but Mister and I are going to take a quick trip down to Houston for a concert--it should be a lot of fun!  Also, it's my birthday next week, which means cake is in my future!

Finally, I'm celebrating the fact that I gathered together all our tax documents and am taking them to the accountant today.  I don't think taxes are fun, but it was one of the items on my to-do list, and it's always satisfying to check off a job!
