Celebrate the Small Things - Democracy edition

Happy Friday!  What's going on in your corner of the world?  Anything exciting?  Please share!

This week, I'm celebrating early voting.  I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it out to the polls on March 1, but I had a nice surprise when I stumbled across an early polling place today.  Five minutes later, I was done!

I have no interest in discussing politics here or elsewhere online, but I strongly believe voting is one of the most important things we can do as responsible citizens.  Please, take a moment (or several!) to check out the candidates and vote in the primary election.  If you're not registered, please do so before the general election in November.  Go Team Democracy! (Okay, really it's more like Go Team Representative Democracy, but that just doesn't have the same ring to it...)

What's on your agenda for this weekend?

If you've been reading my blog, you know that Fridays are reserved for a post where I celebrate the little things that have happened during the week. This is a blog hop created by Vikki and now hosted by Lexa Cain, and it's one of my favorite blogging things to do.  I encourage you to check out her blog and the full list of participants, because who doesn't love reading about good things?

Celebrate the Small Things - Social media edition

Happy Friday!  Is it just me, or is this year really flying by?  Maybe it's just the sleep deprivation talking...

I've had a nice week.  I finally succumbed to the 'wearable fitness monitor' trend, and bought myself a simple pedometer.  Mister and I have both joined Weight Watchers, and while we've been doing well on the program, I haven't been tracking my exercise as much as I need to.  This little device takes on the job for me, as it automatically updates my progress so I don't have to worry about it.  So far, so good!

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about social media and how I use it.  I've decided to try a new experiment, and set up a 'street team' of sorts, using Facebook. Basically, I'm going to set up a group (I think I'm going to call it Lara's Lab), and invite people to join.  I hope to use the group to talk about books, hold giveaways, and promote romance reading.  If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, find me on Facebook and I'll add you to the group!

That's it for me this week.  I hope you're all doing well.  Any big plans for the weekend?  Let me know!

Celebrate the Small Things - Honey-do edition

Happy Friday!  I hope you've all had a nice week.  We're trucking along as per usual here, which is nice.  Nothing terribly exciting to report, but nothing distressing either, so I can't complain.

This week, I'm celebrating lists.  We have a lot of stuff do to around the house, and I finally realized nothing was going to get done unless I wrote it all down.  It's easier for Mister and I to tackle things if we know exactly what needs to be worked on.  Plus, there's the satisfaction of crossing off items as we complete them, which is an added bonus.

Do you make lists?

P.S. There's still time to enter my giveaway!
